A warm welcome to Dr. Brandea Balcomb who has joined our practice today! Dr. Balcomb enjoys practicing full-scope optometry and her goal is to provide her patients with the utmost care and consideration.
Dr. Balcomb welcomes patients of all ages. Appointments with her are now available, and she currently works in our Brantford and Paris offices on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Dr. Balcomb graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree on the Dean's Honours list from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. During the course of her degree, Dr. Balcomb completed a clinical rotation at the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute in Kentucky and Indiana. There, she learned alongside of 5 ophthalmologists and 2 optometrists who specialized in areas including cornea, cataract, glaucoma, retina and refractive surgery, treatment and management. She also participated in 2 primary care rotations, one at a clinic in Kitchener and one in Nova Scotia where she grew up.
After finishing her Doctorate, Dr. Balcomb had the opportunity to travel to Malawi, Africa and spend 6 weeks volunteering in an eye hospital. She was able to help people by performing eye exams not only in the hospital, but also by travelling to remote areas of Malawi to provide eye care to those who would otherwise not have access.
