Dr. Larry Madill
Understanding, analysing and identifying the relationship between vision and learning is a special interest of Dr. Madill's. He facilitates and runs the Brant Family Eye Care - Behavioural Optometry Services which offers both vision perception and dyslexia testing. Dr. Madill works with students, parents and teachers to identify tools that are designed to improve visual skills. The tools are tailored to the individual patient with the goal of improving academic performance.
In 2004, Dr. Madill was honoured with the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Literacy Council of Brantford and District. He received the K-W Optical Award in his final year at the School of Optometry. He previously received a finance and accounting award at Wilfred Laurier University, for attaining the highest marks in his class.
Dr. Madill has been a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada, various local service organizations and boards, and is currently a member of the Ontario and Canadian Optometric Associations.
Travelling and spending time with friends and family is very important to Dr. Madill. He is the proud husband of Debbie, father to Matthew and soon-to-be father-in-law to Tara. He is an avid runner, and has completed seven marathons, along with a number of shorter races.
Dr. Madill has been gratified to be involved with the expansion of the offices over the years from two optometrists and a small staff to the current eight optometrists and amazing team of optometric assistants. He credits the growth to continuous efforts to stay state-of-the-art in terms of technology and services provided, combined with continual efforts from all team members to treat each individual with respect and kindness.

Dr. Mary Nolan
Dr. Nolan was honoured to be selected as the president of Soroptimist International of Brantford when it was chartered in 1989 and she remained an active member for many years in this woman's service club.
Dr. Nolan has a special interest in Binocular Vision and keeps current on all aspects of Optometry by regularly attending continuing education courses. This included a 100 hour Therapeutics Course which she took in 2001. Dr. Nolan is a clinical primary care supervisor for the University of Waterloo Externship Program. She enjoys mentoring final year students from the University of Waterloo School by offering extern placements under her supervision in both of the Brant Family Eye Care clinics. She finds clinical teaching very rewarding. While sharing her years of experience in a real office situation, she enjoys the challenge of keeping up to date with the theoretical knowledge necessary to be able to guide the students to help them further their education and knowledge.
Dr. Nolan and her husband Jeff are proud parents of two boys, Chris (born in 1991) and Alex (born in 1993). She has been very active in various capacities in both Resurrection and St John's College School councils where her children attended.
When not busy with work and volunteer commitments, Dr. Nolan enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, attending the theatre, travelling (especially cruising) and spending summers at Sauble Beach.
Dr. Nolan is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Dr. Nolan is proud to be a part of the team at Brant and Paris Family Eye Care Clinics. She has enjoyed watching the practice continue to grow and believes that the practice's success is due to its philosophy of taking care of each patient in the most caring way.

Dr. Trisha Beal
Dr. Trisha Beal obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree and then earned a Doctorate in Optometry from the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry. Dr. Beal, convinced that patients deserve to be treated with respect and appreciate receiving sincere, personal care joined two similar minded optometrists and became a partner at what is now known as Brant & Paris Family Eye Care.
During her studies, Dr. Beal completed an externship in ocular diseases and therapeutics at Vision America of Memphis -- a top referral centre in the US Midwest. She has been honoured academically with Canadian and Ontario Scholar Awards and Awards for achievement in Geometrical Optics. For her clinical performance, she has received awards for superior performance in Paediatric and Special Needs, Contact Lens Care and Primary Care. She is also a recipient of the K-W Optical Group Achievement Award.
Dr. Beal has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry, Optometry and Vision Science and was the recipient of the Backman Research Award and the Optometry faculty Undergraduate Research Scholarship. Outside her professional achievements, she was honoured to be selected and to have the Prime Minister of Canada personally present to her a Canada Citizenship Award for community service and leadership.
Dr. Beal is an avid supporter of ensuring that sight-threatening eye conditions in infants are detected and treated early - before they interfere with a child's healthy development. She has a special interest in educating all patients about the importance of UV protection and providing comprehensive eye care for patients with special needs. She is also a clinical director for the Special Olympics' Healthy Athletes' Program.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Beal serves as a Site Supervisor for fourth year optometry externs from the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry during their primary care rotations. She is also a guest lecturer at the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry in their practice management course.
Dr. Beal is an active member of the Ontario and Canadian Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. She and her husband Ben are proud parents to Alexandra (born in 2004) and Zachary (born in 2006). They are all avid travellers (especially cruisers) and enjoy "all things Disney."

Dr. Carolyn Barth
Dr. Carolyn Barth received her doctorate and Honours Bachelor of Science from University of Waterloo School of Optometry having achieved a position on the Dean's Honours list during every year of her studies. In 2008, Dr. Barth received the Dr. Irving Baker Excellence in Clinical Optometry Award for her exemplary clinical skills.
Dr. Barth enjoys all aspects of optometry including the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, pediatric eye care and contact lens fitting and management. Dr. Barth has completed two externships one in Christchurch, New Zealand and one at the OMNI Eye Specialists in Baltimore, Maryland. Her externships provided her with advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, eye infections as well as retinal and corneal disorders. Dr. Barth has also completed advance contact lens training in Jacksonville, Florida and attends several optometric continuing education courses every year to stay up-do-date on the latest research and technology.
Dr. Barth has helped develop the Brant Family Eye Care Mobile Optometric Services which involves coordinating and providing optometric care of local nursing home residents who are unable to travel.
Outside of the clinics, Dr. Barth and her husband Adam are avid travellers.

Dr. Kristin Person
Dr. Kristin Person received her Honours Bachelor of Science before graduating with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. During her studies, Dr. Person completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at The Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City. While there she participated in advanced aspects of therapeutic eye care, including Cataract, Glaucoma, Retinal and Extra-ocular muscle surgeries and management. She also completed two externships in primary care -- one at our office where she was trained by Drs Madill, Nolan & Beal. She stood out during her externships due to her outstanding clinical skills but most importantly for the genuine care she demonstrates towards her patients.
In 2009 she was honoured with the Dr. W. Ross Andrews Prize for Clinical Proficiency and was presented with the O.S.I. Award for Excellence in Practice Management in "recognition of demonstrated leadership in the areas of professionalism and communication skills."
Dr. Person practices full-scope optometry and enjoys all aspects of primary eye care, including the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and diabetes. She is particularly interested in the areas of paediatrics and contact lenses, and has attended a speciality contact lens course in Jacksonville, Florida.
Through volunteer medical eye care missions, Dr. Person has donated her time to provide eye care to underprivileged locals in developing countries including Zihuatanejo, Mexico and Piribebuy, Paraguay.
Dr. Person enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Person is a native of Delhi, Ontario and enjoys the one-on-one relationship between doctor and patient in our practice setting. She looks forward to serving our community for many years to come. Dr. Person is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, The Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

Dr. Heather Sangster
Dr. Heather Sangster was born and raised in Brantford. She graduated from North Park Collegiate as the recipient of the Principal's Trophy and a James Hillier Foundation Scholarship. At McMaster University, Dr. Sangster earned a Bachelor of Heath Sciences degree. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo, graduating on the Dean's Honour List.
In 2010, Dr. Sangster was the recipient of the Eschenbach Low Vision Award, for her interest and skill in the area of low vision optometry. Dr. Sangster has helped develop the Brant Family Eye Care Low Vision Program, which involves examining patients with low vision and prescribing visual aids, such as microscopes and telescopes, to help them with everyday tasks.
Along with her aforementioned interest in low vision optometry, Dr. Sangster enjoys seeing patients of all ages and practices "full-scope" optometry, including the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, and contact lens fitting and management.
During her studies, Dr. Sangster participated in an externship at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Centre in Lexington, Kentucky. There, she had the opportunity to develop her clinical skills and further her learning about common ocular conditions, such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Additionally, Dr. Sangster was exposed to their low vision optometry program, which helped to develop her interest in low vision optometry.
Dr. Sangster has completed advanced contact lens training in Jacksonville, Florida. She actively participates in continuing education courses to remain current in on-going research and developments in the field of optometry.
In her spare time, Dr. Sangster is an avid curler. She also enjoys reading and is researching her next trip because she enjoys travelling.Dr. Sangster is a proud member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Some of you may find that Dr. Sangster is a familiar face at Brant and Paris Family Eye Care. She spent two summers working as a student in the office and then was privileged to spend one of her optometric externship placements at the office. Dr. Sangster feels that she has learned a great deal from Doctors Madill, Nolan and Beal. In turn, the doctors were impressed by her clinical skills and her compassionate, patient-centred approach to patient care. Dr. Sangster looks forward to giving back to the communities that have given her so much.

Dr. Brandea Balcomb
Dr. Brandea Balcomb graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree on the Dean's Honours list from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. During the course of her degree, Dr. Balcomb completed a clinical rotation at the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute in Kentucky and Indiana. There, she learned alongside of 5 ophthalmologists and 2 optometrists who specialized in areas including cornea, cataract, glaucoma, retina and refractive surgery, treatment and management. She also participated in 2 primary care rotations, one at a clinic in Kitchener and one in Nova Scotia where she grew up.
After finishing her Doctorate, Dr. Balcomb had the opportunity to travel to Malawi, Africa and spend 6 weeks volunteering in an eye hospital. She was able to help people by performing eye exams not only in the hospital, but also by travelling to remote areas of Malawi to provide eye care to those who would otherwise not have access.
Dr. Balcomb enjoys practicing full-scope optometry and welcomes patients of any age. Her goal is to provide her patients with the utmost care and consideration. She is proud to be a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Outside of work, Dr. Balcomb enjoys spending time with her fiancé Andrew and their cat Jack.

Dr. Stacey Archibald
Dr. Stacey Archibald received her Bachelor of Science and graduated on the Dean's Honours List from the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry. In 2002, she was the recipient of the Central Optical Award for Excellence in Special Studies. She also received Optometry Research Scholarships and has presented her research work at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and has had a paper published in the field of glaucoma research.
Dr. Archibald has a special interest in the early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and in refractive surgery co-management. As part of her training, Dr. Archibald completed an externship at a primary care optometric center in Calgary, Alberta. She has also completed advanced training in refractive surgery patient care and management.
Dr. Archibald and her husband Dr. Andrew Croll are proud parents to Elizabeth born in 2008. Drs. Archibald and Croll are thrilled to announce that they are expecting their third child in the Spring 2012. Dr. Archibald is an avid reader and enjoys spending any spare time travelling and visiting friends and family.
Family is very important to Dr. Archibald and she balances her time with her patients with the needs of caring for her young family. It is the compassion and kindness that she brings to both her family and patients that make her such an asset to the team at Brant and Paris Family Eye Care.
